Removable Lightweight Truck Tool Boxes for Use Under a Truck Cover

Some may ask, what is a CargoCatch exactly and how can it be used as a truck tool box under a truck cover?

The best way to describe a CargoCatch Pickup Truck Bed Organizer is to say that it’s a lightweight removable and fully adjustable cargo organizing truck box system for any pickup, which is not permanently mounted, weighs less than 10 lbs and works under the majority of truck covers.

It was originally designed for grocery bag management in a Volkswagen Rabbit in Redwood City, California and quickly morphed into a replacement product for a pickup truck tool box, either in an open bed or under any truck cover.  Originally called a ‘grocerygripper’ , then a ‘grocerygrabber’, the CargoCatch was born on Memorial Day of 1995.  Billy Graham came home from the grocery store in his VW Rabbit convertible carrying light cargo and groceries in the rear of the Rabbit which had a rear like a hatchback.  When he opened the rear of the Rabbit and lifted up the door, out dropped a glass jar of Best Foods Mayonnaise which fell, broke and stained the landlord’s newly paved black driveway.  Just as this happened, in came the landlord in his pickup truck.

Bill received a nice lecture from his landlord about how he’d been shot in the leg with a wooden bullet during WWII fighting against the Germans and Italians and how he worked his tail off to be able to pay for that newly paved driveway.  Long story longer, that Rabbit got sold and Bill bought himself a pickup truck, to which he later applied the original design, and the rest as they say, is history.

The nice thing about the CargoCatch is that it replaces a traditional truck tool box for those that don’t necessarily need a traditional box.  It turns out that about 95% of pickup truck owners who purchase a CargoCatch, do so because they have a truck cover of some sort they want to mount it under.

As long as you have, when your tailgate is open and your cover is closed, a straight shot from one side of the truck to the other, on or under the rail on a flat hard surface, and you will have about 1.5 to 2.5’ of distance between the two mounting rods on each side, you will be able to use the CargoCatch successfully.  If your distance rail to rail is between 54-62”, you take the medium.  If that distance is 62” or up, you take the large.  If you have questions, call us.

Basically it gives the user the ability to organize small cargo and tools inside the bed and under the rails, so you can use it in conjunction with many truck bed covers.  Some people have even gone as far as modifying the CargoCatch and/or their truck in order to more permanently install the unit.
