Veteran’s Day and Thanksgiving 2015 – What We’re Thankful For and Why

graham_logo_final_roughs_4

If you live in the United States, chances are you know somebody who served or is serving currently in the military. If you do, don’t forget to thank them on Veteran’s Day.  And if you don’t, please make it a point to thank somebody who either served, is serving, or who worked or works in public service like police or fire.

It’s hard to put into words how proud I am, to be an American. Today being Veteran’s Day and so close to Thanksgiving  brings tears of pride thinking about my fallen family members who fought in almost every war this country has ever seen since the early 1800’s.  Their sacrifice and willingness to risk their lives for the future welfare of their families is something that we can never replace, and something we should be forever thankful for.

I grew up in a military family. My dad John Graham was an aerial photographer for the US Navy during the Korean conflict and used his skills with a camera over enemy territory to decide where to hit and also processed film for analysis.  His two older brothers, my uncles Tom and Bob Graham, were both pilots for the Navy, and flew during WWII and Korea.  While my uncles were at war, my grandfather died in Santa Monica, when my dad was just sixteen.  My dad shortly thereafter joined and went to fight in Korea with his brothers.  They all came back thank God.  Tom passed away a few short years ago.

You cannot even begin to comprehend what these guys did for me and on this Veteran’s Day, this is what I’m thankful for and why. Because of their love of this country and willingness to die to protect all of us, they helped provide me with a foundation to build on.  They are all key reasons why I have the opportunity and ability to run an internet based company designing pickup truck cargo management products to keep people and cargo in the military and other mobile environments safe.  They are the reason why I was able to grow up free from political persecution or religious manipulation.  They are the reason why I was able to study the evolution of man and become an Anthropologist and Linguist.  They are the reasons for every wonderful experience I’ve ever had.  They are the reasons why I have a safe place to live where I can raise and protect my own family in a similar fashion.

Thanks guys, you will forever be in my heart and in everything I do, every day.

Happy Veteran’s Day to All~!
