Running Your Internet Business from the Bush in South America

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

If you could live legally in another country and run your internet business or work your current position from an internet connection in the rainforest while living for next to nothing, would you do it?  Well we’re doing it as we speak.  We can currently use a high-speed USB device with our laptop in the rainforests of Paraguay to process orders on the internet.  So while we’re pullin’ fresh water from the spring in the ground, pulling potatoes out of the ground and tossing them immediately in the water, cutting up a chicken and banging some fresh grapefruit off the trees, I can ship you your products in one click or while using voice recognition software and basic commands using a wireless headset for phone and internet, at the best price, anywhere you want and not have to worry about when I’m going to start living my life.  Of course I want to continue living here and paying my taxes, making money and hiring more employees, but it’s becoming almost impossible to do that and be happy about the future at the same time.

I don’t know about the rest of the industry, but I know what I know, and my associates in the automotive aftermarket including I, are slowly but surely getting off this sinking ship.  ‘Land of the Free’ and ‘Home of the Brave’ pride phrases are quickly losing their kick as the rule book just keeps getting thicker and thicker and our politicians play their marketing games on the big networks.

Honestly, I’m starting to get paranoid, beginning to think this debt ceiling issue at hand has already been scripted.  Of course they’ll come to an agreement, but they’re scaring the hell out of Americans and know that when they do finally come to an agreement, probably minutes before the deadline, they know the majority of the country will be wiping the sweat off their foreheads while Obama looks like the hero in order to sway more votes.  Hopefully we’re not that stupid.  Of course this is just my opinion.  Who knows what the ultimate plan will entail, but I think regardless, this country is going to hell in a hand-basket, unless we get somebody with balls to run this country.  Sure, Obama’s a great speaker, but he’s not a great leader.  We all know that big government is not the answer.  Enough said here.  I could go on for hours about this crap, and I don’t even want to touch Boehner and the Tea Party, I think they’re doing what they can and I have faith in checks and balances, but give me a break.  It will be interesting to say the least to see what happens.  And if things crash, I’m out.

While these babies in Washington D.C are trying to kick each other out of the sandbox, we hard working entrepreneurs who are trying to build our businesses are stagnant.  Sure, we may be doing our due diligence and getting by, but let’s face it, why work so hard and spend all this money, when really all we’ll be doing in the long run is bending over for the soap?  Why not start living the dream now while we work.  So, we’re taking paradise to the office, or vice-versa.  Sittin’ around waitin’ for the money to come out ain’t gonna git me nowhere no time soon, so it’s time to at least look at heading out, maybe not now, but who knows?…at least that’s what my gut is telling me.  It may take some time, but in good time I will be sitting in the forest with my animals, self-sufficient on the farm, with a high-speed connection and an internet bank.

Manufacturing costs in China for many of the auto product makers have sky-rocketed.  I heard one vendor the other day got hit with a 20% increase, and that taxes and shipping are going up.  Go to Mexico?  Yes.  Mexico will be I believe the next China if they can get their security issue under control.  We do a lot of great work in Mexico, and we could do a lot more.  But South America looks tastier and tastier as time goes on…and it’s a heck of a lot safer than Mexico.

So, what do we do now?  Where do we go?  Well, if your kids are already grown, then you can leave the U.S. and build your dream somewhere else.  If you’re in the process of raising a family, then you might as well start planning your escape now.  Hell, think of it this way, you can always have the U.S. as your home base.  You don’t need a home or any property here, you just need your passport if you desperately need to come back, which you will, maybe.

There are a lot of pickup trucks in South America.  And there is a lot of money there.  We are currently working with a South American distributor to get some products such as the CargoCatch pickup truck cargo holder, the Loading Zone Cargo Gate, the Load Handler pickup truck unloader and other products being used in trucks that need these accessories.  Many of the aforementioned products fit the Nissan trucks in South America and Australia as well as all of the American trucks that are already there.  We can either set up manufacturing easily there in SA, or we can ship there.  However we do it, we need to get centrally located.  That central location in South America, is Paraguay.  Setting up shop in Paraguay is not easy, but it’s possible.  We have contracted an American living in Paraguay who is a retired Special Forces Marine married to an influential Paraguaya living in Asuncion who has set up a business development system there including security and manufacturing and is currently in the process of streamlining this.

Paraguay is a relatively small, land-locked country right smack in the middle and slightly to the south bordering Bolivia to the north and Argentina and Brazil to the East.  There is a lot of trade there.  Paraguay has virtually no debt.  Yes it is the Wild West.  I was speaking to a Paraguaya who works in the legal system there as a Notary’s assistant, and she said ‘Nothing in Paraguay is legal…doing something legal in Paraguay takes forever…it’s better to just be free and do it how you can and use the law where it’s needed’.  I found this statement profoundly interesting with a hint of corruption, but who’s to say Paraguay is more corrupt than the U.S. government?  And who’s to say that her understanding of the word ‘legal’ is the same as mine?  I’m anxious to learn more.

Paraguay considers themselves a constitutional democracy.  And it’s a free country to live in for Americans if you do things their way.  If you want to become a Paraguayan resident, you can do it, you just have to work it, and before you know it, you’ve got an internet connection and your ID card, living free in the Wild West.  It would be a good idea of course to know someone there, so you’re not running around blind and stupid, and that’s why you go and visit.  Get to know some people there, make some connections, come back and plan your next trip.  And what about Brazil?

One of my partners the other day called me and said he’s outta here.  He and his wife bought a vacation home in Belize and are moving to Costa Rica and he’ll run his business from there via internet and local as well as world-wide manufacturing.  Another friend has a house already in Costa Rica but wants to move to South America asap and set up his manufacturing there.  And yet another manufacuturer of pickup truck accessories is ready to start exploring the Southern Hemisphere as he’s tired of it here and he says all he does is work and pay the banks and the government.  All of his employees have health insurance, he doesn’t.  He’s killing himself here.

I am only one guy with one company and a few good friends in the industry.  Can you imagine what everybody else is thinking?  Something is happening.  Something serious.  It’s par for the course and this is what life is.  Deal with it.  Do what’s right by your family and make plans for the future, conservatively.  Keep your options open.  Travel light.  Dispose of material objects.  Prepare for exit, prepare to be a pioneer.  And remember, when you start fresh in a 2nd or 3rd world country, remember something very important, you’re starting your own ‘mafia’ in a way, so keep it safe and keep your word.  Things are not as they seem or as you think as an American.  Wake up and smell the world, cause it’s out there!

We will be in Paraguay between Aug. 11th and Sept 1st, 2011 finalizing some ‘legal’ issues regarding setting up shop and internet there.  We will keep you posted as the bribes take time.  And no we are not leaving the USA, we are simply preparing for disaster and opening our eyes to the rest of human kind.  Life is short, live it.

Horse Trailer Cargo NetGraham Solutions, premier manufacturer and reseller of custom cargo management products for pickup trucks and other vehicles is expanding it’s operation and will be changing its name to Graham Custom Truck Accessories, LLC.  This change is expected to take place within the next thirty days.  No interruption in products or services will result in our restructuring.

Graham Solutions and www.cargocatch.com opened in 2004 originally as a small manufacturer of custom cargo restraint products for pickup trucks.  Today, not only do we continue to design and manufacturer cargo carrier products for vehicles, we are also now a premier designer and reseller of custom cargo nets and related heavy duty cargo restraint products for pickups, suv’s, vans, trailers, transport vehicles, military cargo vehicles and a host of other applications.  On custom jobs we offer, at no charge, engineering drawings, in most cases.  We also provide business development and marketing solutions for web-based start-ups and inventors of automotive aftermarket accessories or custom sewn products.  We have contract sewing facilities available in Texas, Arizona and North Western Mexico.

Over the last several months, we have seen sales of custom cargo nets go through the roof with new restrictions appearing state by state across the country, not to mention the fact that it’s a good idea.  Items that are not properly restrained in moving vehicles become flying and sometimes deadly projectiles.  Whether or not you know the laws in your state, we recommend saving yourself a ticket and having us custom design a heavy duty cargo net for whatever application you have.  We offer nets that use industrial strength webbing, from 2K lb working load capacity to 10K lb tensile strength webbing or seatbelt webbing.  We also offer nets in a variety of colors.

In addition to migrating from a sole proprietorship to an LLC, Graham Solutions and Graham Custom Truck Accessories, LLC is happy to announce that we will be bringing on a new product manager within the next 3 months.  Our new product manager will be in charge of researching new and existing products, adding products to our current online inventory, SEO and other special projects.  We plan to add over 2500 products per year and source more of the customized cargo products.

One of our new products to watch out for in addition to our custom cargo nets is the CargoCatch, to be offered by Load Handler Products out of Libertyville, IL, and released about July of 2011.  The CargoCatch is a pickup truck cargo restraint device and cargo carrier that organizes small cargo in the bed of any pickup truck and can be mounted either on the rail or under the rail, depending on your truck bed environment and needs.  It uses two heavy duty adjustable tension bars with hand cranks and a netted partitioned bag that hangs from the rods.  Partitions are easily detached to offer more space in that particular space.

In 2013, Graham Custom Truck Accessories, LLC and Load Handler will offer a pickup truck bed track system which will accommodate any CargoCatch, allowing the user to slide the unit back and forth in the truck bed without having to manually reposition it.

Cargo SafetyWeb and Gorilla Truck and Trailer Nets

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

Cargo SafetyWeb

If you’re looking for a superior truck or trailer cargo net that’s off the shelf, this is it.  The Gorilla Net and the Cargo SafetyWeb Net by SafetyWeb Products, Inc. out of Sacramento, California are slam dunks when it comes to deciding which net is best to contain any load in your pickup truck bed or trailer bed.

With all the stress just eating away at people in the United States these days, bungee cord and elastic nets are quickly becoming a thing of the past as all they do is just jack up your blood pressure when they get all tangled up and end up in the garbage out of rage.  More and more people are just puttin’ down the hammer, spending a few more bucks as an investment in safety and deciding on either a heavier duty cargo net or a custom net.

There are only a few good nets off the shelf that use heavy duty webbing and are reasonably priced.  Surprisingly, they all are completely different because they apply to different applications.  For example, some truck bed web nets are only designed to cover the inside of the bed and basically restrain a smaller load.  And then there are the larger custom truck nets that we for example make for trucks that are specifically designed for large/tall loads.

While the bungee nets end up tangled in the garbage, the webbing nets are easier to maneuver and are stronger, but there’s sometimes something missing depending on what you’re attempting to contain in your truck bed.

Cargo SafetyWeb has a solution that will make a lot of people very happy, and I’m surprised we never knew about these nets before.  But now we do and we’re here to share them with you.  These nets use the strength of webbing and the coverage of mesh, more specifically, a rip-stop mesh that not only adds to the overall strength of the net, but enables you to more completely cover your cargo and keeps anything at all from getting through breaks in the webbing.  There are two versions, the Gorilla net which uses 1.5″ webbing and rip-stop mesh and the Cargo SafetyWeb which uses a tarp material in the middle and 1.5″ webbing.

These nets each come in 4 sizes for 5′, 6′, 8′ beds and 10′ for extra long beds or trailers.  The smallest 5′ net actually fits perfectly in the back cargo area of a Jeep.  Each net comes in its own convenient storage carry bag and extra strap hardware can be purchased for more restraint strength on top of what it already has.

The aspect we like best about these nets is that they can be easily installed, just Cover, Hook and Go~!!

CargoCatch Truck Bed Cargo Holder for Full Size Trucks

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

The CargoCatch by Graham Solutions is the most innovative pickup truck cargo holder in the automotive aftermarket and is on its way back to you after experiencing poor marketing by Pilot Automotive, the company who originally licensed the patent.

You’ll see trucks driving down the freeway, or parked on the side of the road, with a complete mess in the bed of their truck, typically ropes or bungee cords all tangled up. You take a second look, and say to yourself “What a mess”. Not only did we experience this ourselves with our Toyota Tundra, we decided to do something about it. Some other companies sell cheap similar designs that just don’t hold up under pressure. They use 3M tape or you can drill holes in your truck. There had to be a better solution.

So, one day while watching a San Diego Padres game in his apartment in San Diego, Bill Graham started sketching a design that would ultimately become a reality. He started off at good old Home Depot, purchased some grommets and a couple of adjustable shower rods and off he went back home. He noticed the top rails of the truck bed were rarely used for anything and ended up designing a new sort of technology using UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) tooled properly in conjunction with a heavy duty carriage bolt and a fat wingnut and hard rubber end piece that grabs the side rail under pressure.

Several months later, after about 20 prototypes, Bill worked with Wayne Lundberg of the SBDITC (Small Business Development & International Trade Center), a retired engineer who loved to tweak stuff in his shop and the two of them came up with the “Leveling Screw Jack”, now used with the CargoCatch to stabilize the rods on the truck’s rail on either side.

CargoCatch is now under new license with a smaller niche company out of Libertyville, IL named Load Handler who also specializes in cargo management for pickup trucks. Load Handler and Graham are currently working with Chinese engineers to change the design slightly and late summer the unit will be available for full size pick up trucks only with bed widths of 62″ or greater.

If you’d like more information on the CargoCatch, or have questions regarding your truck, please contact us. We’re also taking backorders at this time. The CargoCatch can be popped in and out of the truck within 10 seconds.

New Pickup Truck Cargo Website – www.cargocatch.com

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

After a ton of requests and the simple demand for a better site, the need for fewer customer clicks to reach their product destination and the fact that we finally found a web development company we can count on and trust, Graham Solutions has just released their new skin for www.cargocatch.com, a truck and auto accessory monster that is growing by the day.

Created by Bill Graham and designed by ASF Design of Canada, we are very proud of our new site. Though we have not created our new blog design yet which will enable customers to read about new truck accessory products and services we offer, we have launched the new “skin”, including all new products for truck cargo accessories and related vehicle products and services.

Not only do our customers now know that we sell truck accessories, as opposed to before when you didn’t know what the heck we did because our company is so diverse, they now can easily reach the products they’re looking for in fewer clicks, as well as view multiple detailed images of products, and video of many of the products we feature at the bottom of the product detail page.

The diversity and evolution of our company has lead us to this current site.  About 10 years ago, Bill Graham developed a cargo management product for pickup trucks call ‘CargoCatch’ to hold groceries and other small cargo items in the rear of his pickup truck bed.  This product was originally licensed to Bully Motorsports and offered in 2 sizes as ‘Pac Mule’, but their marketing was short of aggressive, and now is being re-designed by Graham and Load Handler of Chicago, to be released early this summer as ‘CargoCatch’, including a new ‘handcrank’ option for easier mounting.  Load Handler is a smaller niche company and has a more aggressive marketing plan for ‘CargoCatch’.

Shortly thereafter, Graham began small manufacturing of the product in San Diego, California and Mexico.  It was an evolution of grand proportions that he had no idea he would take on, eventually becoming one of the premier internet based resellers of truck cargo nets and other truck accessories, as well as many other accessories for many different types of vehicles including cars, boats, RV’s, SUV’s, ATV’s, Motorcycles and UTV’s.

We hope you take the opportunity to visit our new site and check out some of the videos, particularly those of Diamondback ATV products, which are the hottest new truck cover ATV based products available today.

Graham Solutions also offers contract sewing services in San Diego, California and Tecate, Mexico for multiple products, as well as the design and manufacture of heavy duty pickup truck cargo nets and more, Made in the USA.  In addition, if you’re an inventor, product developer or entrepreneur,  we can assist you with business start-up consulting, website development, sampling and prototyping of many products from a variety of industries including auto, aviation, marine, military and government.

We look forward to serving you.  Call us for a quote on any of our products and services.

Graham Solutions 2010

Sunday, November 22nd, 2009

Graham Solutions has a full schedule for 2010.  Among the laundry list of activities happening here is our grand opening in South America.  Graham Solutions has tapped a new market in Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Peru, Paraguay and Uruguay.   Most if not all of these countries have a desperate need for some of the truck accessories we offer and more.  Not to mention the fact that many American manufacturers of automotive aftermarket accessories are seeking distribution in the Southern Hemisphere and we intend to be a part of the action.   Part of the reason we’re exploring South America is because of the increase in the implementation of infrastructure in many of these countries and the opportunities that that alone brings due to internet connection improvements.  Products in demand there include ATV’s and related products as well as many truck cargo management accessories.  After we’re settled there, we’ll be donating a percentage of sales to help preserve the environment.  So watch out for our update as things move forward.   Our office currently in Temecula, California will be moving to Ventura County, California in or around March of 2010.  Our contact information changes will be updated on the site as well as with industry specific organizations such as SEMA and other vendors, so if you have trouble reaching us, you can always refer to the site, as the new number will be posted.   Our website www.cargocatch.com will be undergoing a major upgrade in early 2010.  We will be retrofitting the site for easier navigation, product specials, video, live chat and more.  In addition, our newsletter will be updated and posted monthly once the new site is running smoothly.  We will be taking on many new manufacturers and products and offering technical resources site-wide for many new products where .pdf based installation guides and video will be available for viewing.   Graham Solutions is very well known for its cargo nets for all vehicles as well as its manufacturing of very high quality custom cargo nets for many applications.  Some of the heavy duty nets we sell for trucks are best-sellers, and because we have so many requests for custom nets that are slightly larger than the current heavy duty pickup truck nets off the shelf that we sell, we intend to launch our new line of custom cargo nets for pickups that will basically cover square footage in the pickup beds per customer specification.  That’s right, you will design your own net at a very reasonable price.   Our new custom cargo nets for pickups will include heavy duty commercial grade 2” strap webbing in many colors, industrial stitching and the strongest hardware available today.  Carrying a taller load?  No problem.  We’ll just throw in adjustable straps as long as you want to accommodate taller loads.  Keep an eye out for new nets coming to this section of our site http://www.cargocatch.com/custom-cargo-nets.html .   Graham Solutions is a product development company specializing in the design, development, sale and distribution of high quality truck, motorcycle and atv related products.  If you have questions regarding our products and services, please email cargocatch@cargocatch.com or call the number at the top of any of our website pages.  Graham Solutionswww.cargocatch.com
