Ride to the Top of Machu Pichu - Canadian Cowboys

Dual Sport Ride to the Top

CLICK LINK ABOVE TO WATCH VIDEO

It was September 1st of this year and I was flying from Lima, Peru to San Salvador coming back from Paraguay, South America on my way back to Los Angeles.  All the flights back on this trip told stories, but this one topped them all.

Rick and Carl, two Canadian cowboys, were sitting next to me on the TACA Airbus.  The flight was, all in all, about 5 hours I believe, but it was over in about 15 minutes for me, as well I believe for them, because the conversation was great and flowed pretty well I thought.  Every time I take a plane ride I always hope I’m not sitting next to some fly by night idiot.

In this case it was quite the contrary.  These boys are serious explorers.  Kind of brings back a bit of the frontiersman in all of us talking to them, so for that, I thank them greatly.  I also thank them for allowing me to post their videos on my site so all my visitors can enjoy some of the grandeur that our world offers.  And for all you f.cking lazy spoiled Americans sitting around watching cry baby talk shows all day long and collecting a government check because your back hurts, maybe you’ll rest better at night knowing that at least there’s somebody out there doing it.

During one of our conversations I asked if they had ever traveled to SA before and they said ‘no’.  I asked what had sparked the excursion and they replied that one day they just decided to plan a wild trip, so this was it.  They visited the infamous Machu Pichu in Peru.  But they didn’t just visit, ohhhhhhh no.  They busted a serious move and hopped on a couple of motorcycles with video cam attached to one of their helmets and recorded an experience that they’ll never forget.

Check out their vids.  There are 5 posted there depicting different times during their journey.  The most riding I believe you’ll see is in number 3, but if you want a really great cultural experience without leaving your computer, this is it.  From jungle rot to verdigo, you’ll see how these guys do it up right, on a journey to the stars.

These guys were a pleasure to meet and chat with.  And they bring out the real motorcyclist in all of us.  Check it out~!  And get off your ass and go for a ride~!!!!

Running Your Internet Business from the Bush in South America

Thursday, July 28th, 2011

If you could live legally in another country and run your internet business or work your current position from an internet connection in the rainforest while living for next to nothing, would you do it?  Well we’re doing it as we speak.  We can currently use a high-speed USB device with our laptop in the rainforests of Paraguay to process orders on the internet.  So while we’re pullin’ fresh water from the spring in the ground, pulling potatoes out of the ground and tossing them immediately in the water, cutting up a chicken and banging some fresh grapefruit off the trees, I can ship you your products in one click or while using voice recognition software and basic commands using a wireless headset for phone and internet, at the best price, anywhere you want and not have to worry about when I’m going to start living my life.  Of course I want to continue living here and paying my taxes, making money and hiring more employees, but it’s becoming almost impossible to do that and be happy about the future at the same time.

I don’t know about the rest of the industry, but I know what I know, and my associates in the automotive aftermarket including I, are slowly but surely getting off this sinking ship.  ‘Land of the Free’ and ‘Home of the Brave’ pride phrases are quickly losing their kick as the rule book just keeps getting thicker and thicker and our politicians play their marketing games on the big networks.

Honestly, I’m starting to get paranoid, beginning to think this debt ceiling issue at hand has already been scripted.  Of course they’ll come to an agreement, but they’re scaring the hell out of Americans and know that when they do finally come to an agreement, probably minutes before the deadline, they know the majority of the country will be wiping the sweat off their foreheads while Obama looks like the hero in order to sway more votes.  Hopefully we’re not that stupid.  Of course this is just my opinion.  Who knows what the ultimate plan will entail, but I think regardless, this country is going to hell in a hand-basket, unless we get somebody with balls to run this country.  Sure, Obama’s a great speaker, but he’s not a great leader.  We all know that big government is not the answer.  Enough said here.  I could go on for hours about this crap, and I don’t even want to touch Boehner and the Tea Party, I think they’re doing what they can and I have faith in checks and balances, but give me a break.  It will be interesting to say the least to see what happens.  And if things crash, I’m out.

While these babies in Washington D.C are trying to kick each other out of the sandbox, we hard working entrepreneurs who are trying to build our businesses are stagnant.  Sure, we may be doing our due diligence and getting by, but let’s face it, why work so hard and spend all this money, when really all we’ll be doing in the long run is bending over for the soap?  Why not start living the dream now while we work.  So, we’re taking paradise to the office, or vice-versa.  Sittin’ around waitin’ for the money to come out ain’t gonna git me nowhere no time soon, so it’s time to at least look at heading out, maybe not now, but who knows?…at least that’s what my gut is telling me.  It may take some time, but in good time I will be sitting in the forest with my animals, self-sufficient on the farm, with a high-speed connection and an internet bank.

Manufacturing costs in China for many of the auto product makers have sky-rocketed.  I heard one vendor the other day got hit with a 20% increase, and that taxes and shipping are going up.  Go to Mexico?  Yes.  Mexico will be I believe the next China if they can get their security issue under control.  We do a lot of great work in Mexico, and we could do a lot more.  But South America looks tastier and tastier as time goes on…and it’s a heck of a lot safer than Mexico.

So, what do we do now?  Where do we go?  Well, if your kids are already grown, then you can leave the U.S. and build your dream somewhere else.  If you’re in the process of raising a family, then you might as well start planning your escape now.  Hell, think of it this way, you can always have the U.S. as your home base.  You don’t need a home or any property here, you just need your passport if you desperately need to come back, which you will, maybe.

There are a lot of pickup trucks in South America.  And there is a lot of money there.  We are currently working with a South American distributor to get some products such as the CargoCatch pickup truck cargo holder, the Loading Zone Cargo Gate, the Load Handler pickup truck unloader and other products being used in trucks that need these accessories.  Many of the aforementioned products fit the Nissan trucks in South America and Australia as well as all of the American trucks that are already there.  We can either set up manufacturing easily there in SA, or we can ship there.  However we do it, we need to get centrally located.  That central location in South America, is Paraguay.  Setting up shop in Paraguay is not easy, but it’s possible.  We have contracted an American living in Paraguay who is a retired Special Forces Marine married to an influential Paraguaya living in Asuncion who has set up a business development system there including security and manufacturing and is currently in the process of streamlining this.

Paraguay is a relatively small, land-locked country right smack in the middle and slightly to the south bordering Bolivia to the north and Argentina and Brazil to the East.  There is a lot of trade there.  Paraguay has virtually no debt.  Yes it is the Wild West.  I was speaking to a Paraguaya who works in the legal system there as a Notary’s assistant, and she said ‘Nothing in Paraguay is legal…doing something legal in Paraguay takes forever…it’s better to just be free and do it how you can and use the law where it’s needed’.  I found this statement profoundly interesting with a hint of corruption, but who’s to say Paraguay is more corrupt than the U.S. government?  And who’s to say that her understanding of the word ‘legal’ is the same as mine?  I’m anxious to learn more.

Paraguay considers themselves a constitutional democracy.  And it’s a free country to live in for Americans if you do things their way.  If you want to become a Paraguayan resident, you can do it, you just have to work it, and before you know it, you’ve got an internet connection and your ID card, living free in the Wild West.  It would be a good idea of course to know someone there, so you’re not running around blind and stupid, and that’s why you go and visit.  Get to know some people there, make some connections, come back and plan your next trip.  And what about Brazil?

One of my partners the other day called me and said he’s outta here.  He and his wife bought a vacation home in Belize and are moving to Costa Rica and he’ll run his business from there via internet and local as well as world-wide manufacturing.  Another friend has a house already in Costa Rica but wants to move to South America asap and set up his manufacturing there.  And yet another manufacuturer of pickup truck accessories is ready to start exploring the Southern Hemisphere as he’s tired of it here and he says all he does is work and pay the banks and the government.  All of his employees have health insurance, he doesn’t.  He’s killing himself here.

I am only one guy with one company and a few good friends in the industry.  Can you imagine what everybody else is thinking?  Something is happening.  Something serious.  It’s par for the course and this is what life is.  Deal with it.  Do what’s right by your family and make plans for the future, conservatively.  Keep your options open.  Travel light.  Dispose of material objects.  Prepare for exit, prepare to be a pioneer.  And remember, when you start fresh in a 2nd or 3rd world country, remember something very important, you’re starting your own ‘mafia’ in a way, so keep it safe and keep your word.  Things are not as they seem or as you think as an American.  Wake up and smell the world, cause it’s out there!

We will be in Paraguay between Aug. 11th and Sept 1st, 2011 finalizing some ‘legal’ issues regarding setting up shop and internet there.  We will keep you posted as the bribes take time.  And no we are not leaving the USA, we are simply preparing for disaster and opening our eyes to the rest of human kind.  Life is short, live it.

Paraguayan biker in training

Graham Solutions is now Graham Custom Truck Accessories, LLC

Last year we visited Acahay, Paraguay, in the Paraguari region of the rainforest.  We’d been to Paraguay before twice, but we’d never visited this region and the people that live there.  The people of this region differ in ethnicity, some are pure indigenous Guarani, Spanish or Paraguayan, a mix, or from German descent,  as well as others.

We visited a farm owned by the Gonzalez-Acosta family, a family with Spanish and Guarani influence.  The farm is relatively small compared to some of the other properties there, but it’s plenty big enough to support a huge family.  Mom had 13 kids.  Mandioca, a root similar to potatoes, grows wild and is planted as well in rows in addition to onions, garlic, potatoes among others.  Fruit trees canvas the property, with so much fruit they have to throw the majority of it away.  Oranges, lemons, mangos, passion fruit, tangerines, peaches, pomegranate, grapefruit, coffee, coconut, and so many herbs I can’t name them all, but they’re all used for something.  They use ATV’s and motorcycles to get around the forest.  Every once in a while you’ll see an old Ford, Chevy or Dodge truck, and even more rare would be a new model of any brand.  In Paraguay, you can sell a pickup truck for 3 times or more what it’s worth here in the USA.

Did you know that you can easily become a resident in Paraguay?  Did you know that Paraguay has virtually no debt?

Fresh spring water erupts from the ground nearby, chickens run wild as well as pigs, cows, sheep, dogs, cats and an abundance of other wildlife.  Lunch was walking around me and hanging on the trees, so we grabbed a chicken, brutal murder technique they use.  They pick up the chicken, grab it’s head, pull it and ring it around a couple times and then hang it from a tree.  Then post plucking they use a dull knife to cut it up.  We went up to the mandioca field and pulled some roots, shaved them and boiled them with the chicken.  We banged a few grapefruits off the trees and made a fresh squeezed delight as our beverage.  Lunch was served, chicken soup with mandioca, fresh baked bread and grapefruit juice.  The chicken was a bit tough but tasty.

At the lunch table we chatted about four wheelers, cargo control products, and war.  The women were submissive at the table and catered to us hand and foot.  I discovered from these people that Paraguay was once the largest country in South America, or what was then considered South America.  But the Triple Alliance War of the 1870′s ended that deal.  Paraguayans were of Spanish descent, a peaceful people who had assimilated very successfully with the indigenous Guarani Indians, and their military was virtually non-existent.    And when Brazil, Argentina and Uruguay came in, it was a slaughter of mass proportions.  Paraguay was reduced in a short time to less than 200,000 people, most of whom were women and children, all the men for the most part had been killed.  In some of the last battles, the children of Paraguay carved wooden guns and attacked the soldiers.  This is the heart of a Paraguayan.  They are the nicest most hospitable people I have ever met but I wouldn’t piss one off if I were you.

The men at the table told me that their farm had been a dumping ground for Brazilian soldiers who were hiding gold and other treasures.  We’ve got a hi-tech metal detector on order now.  They said they were buying the nearby farm, also a 5 acre plot, and asked me if I wanted to live there.  I told them that I would love to, and I offered to provide one of their daughters with her share of the money to purchase the farm and they were happy about that.

We hopped on our rides and took off.  We headed back towards the city and our Hotel Cecilia.  Our next trip to Paraguay will include visiting this farm again and also visiting an elementary school that we’ve recently started donating to for school supplies and other things that they need there.

All we really need now is a high speed internet connection out in the Paraguayan bush and we’ll be happy.  Maybe some day~!

Horse Trailer Cargo NetGraham Solutions, premier manufacturer and reseller of custom cargo management products for pickup trucks and other vehicles is expanding it’s operation and will be changing its name to Graham Custom Truck Accessories, LLC.  This change is expected to take place within the next thirty days.  No interruption in products or services will result in our restructuring.

Graham Solutions and www.cargocatch.com opened in 2004 originally as a small manufacturer of custom cargo restraint products for pickup trucks.  Today, not only do we continue to design and manufacturer cargo carrier products for vehicles, we are also now a premier designer and reseller of custom cargo nets and related heavy duty cargo restraint products for pickups, suv’s, vans, trailers, transport vehicles, military cargo vehicles and a host of other applications.  On custom jobs we offer, at no charge, engineering drawings, in most cases.  We also provide business development and marketing solutions for web-based start-ups and inventors of automotive aftermarket accessories or custom sewn products.  We have contract sewing facilities available in Texas, Arizona and North Western Mexico.

Over the last several months, we have seen sales of custom cargo nets go through the roof with new restrictions appearing state by state across the country, not to mention the fact that it’s a good idea.  Items that are not properly restrained in moving vehicles become flying and sometimes deadly projectiles.  Whether or not you know the laws in your state, we recommend saving yourself a ticket and having us custom design a heavy duty cargo net for whatever application you have.  We offer nets that use industrial strength webbing, from 2K lb working load capacity to 10K lb tensile strength webbing or seatbelt webbing.  We also offer nets in a variety of colors.

In addition to migrating from a sole proprietorship to an LLC, Graham Solutions and Graham Custom Truck Accessories, LLC is happy to announce that we will be bringing on a new product manager within the next 3 months.  Our new product manager will be in charge of researching new and existing products, adding products to our current online inventory, SEO and other special projects.  We plan to add over 2500 products per year and source more of the customized cargo products.

One of our new products to watch out for in addition to our custom cargo nets is the CargoCatch, to be offered by Load Handler Products out of Libertyville, IL, and released about July of 2011.  The CargoCatch is a pickup truck cargo restraint device and cargo carrier that organizes small cargo in the bed of any pickup truck and can be mounted either on the rail or under the rail, depending on your truck bed environment and needs.  It uses two heavy duty adjustable tension bars with hand cranks and a netted partitioned bag that hangs from the rods.  Partitions are easily detached to offer more space in that particular space.

In 2013, Graham Custom Truck Accessories, LLC and Load Handler will offer a pickup truck bed track system which will accommodate any CargoCatch, allowing the user to slide the unit back and forth in the truck bed without having to manually reposition it.

How to Start a Drop Ship Business Online

Saturday, October 9th, 2010

Graham Solutions and www.cargocatch.com started as a small manufacturer of automotive cargo management accessories about 6 years ago.  After working in small manufacturing for a spell, we licensed our patents while continuing to manufacture our products.  While exhibiting our products at the SEMA spring show in Indianapolis in 2005, we began to meet other people and businesses in the industry and started to develop quality long-term relationships with other manufacturers and distributors of similar products.  So, drop shipping began.

Drop shipping is a very simple concept that has been around for a long time.  My customer places an order with me either via telephone, internet or mail, I receive the order and order the product from either the manufacturer or distributor, which then ships direct from their location to my customer.  The manufacturer or distributor of the product charges my account or credit card, I charge the clients’ and I keep the difference minus whatever the bank takes which is typically about 3%.

In some cases you need to be authorized to sell certain products.  In most cases you must have permission from the manufacturer or distributor in order to be able to resell their product lines.  If you are not, you can be in serious trouble, even if you’re doing it through someone else.  Always make sure you get authorization to be able to sell all lines that your vendor offers you.  This way you can  market their marks how you see fit to attract your customer base.

There are a couple of different ways to approach drop shipping, one is from an internet retailer’s point of view, the other is from a manufacturing point of view.  If you’re an internet retailer, you want to find more products that you can sell on your site based on your niche of products, or not, and if you’re a manufacturer, you can find internet retailers to market the products you manufacture for free on their internet sites.

We do both.  We are not only a manufacture of many cargo products for vehicles, we also buy and resell other companies’ products.  So, not only do we  participate in other drop ship programs provided by manufacturers and distributors in our respective industry, we also have our own drop ship program marketing the products that we manufacture.

The first thing you need to do, if you’re a retailer or want to be, is to decide what exactly it is that you want to sell.  And whatever you’re going to sell, you’ll want to check out the competition before investing too much time or money in trying to compete against well established companies or websites for those particular sorts of products or keywords.  A great place to start is to find one product or type of products where there isn’t a lot of competition but growing demand.  Or, if you’re going to compete for products that are already readily available on the internet, it might be a good idea to choose some keywords for your domain name or theme of your website where you believe you can compete.

After you get a general idea of what you want to do, it may be a good idea to speak to a professional website developer/internet marketer, somebody you trust of course, who will give you their two cents worth of advice relating to your business desires.  Bottom line, just don’t jump into something, think about it, talk about it, research it and consult about it before moving forward.  One simple move could make or break the ability of your company to be successful on the internet when it comes to marketing certain products or services.

Do a lot of writing about your product or niche of products, or at least as much as you can.  Unique text about the products and/or services that you have will help build a unique environment for your online presence and will also help when it comes to search engines, they love that unique writing, straight from the heart.  And if you do no writing at all, you’re most likely wasting your time.  We’ve seen more websites pop-up with no unique writing at all, and they do absolutely no business at all.  So, keep an open mind and start planning how you want your website to feel, not just look.  And once you get started, keep making changes, changes of course that will benefit you, it keeps the search engines hungry to index your site if you are constantly updating/adding/adjusting things.   Just make sure you speak to your web developer before making any significant changes or any changes at all for that matter, it could make a big difference, even a slight change.

Whether you’re a manufacturer or a retailer, or both, all you need to do is either send or receive, or both, high quality images, pricing, marketing material, video, product instructions and whatever else you think you’ll need to sell or have your drop ship accounts market your products online.   It’s really that simple.  And of course, you’ll need an e-commerce site set up and preferably a blog to write unique text about your new and existing products.

A great place to start is a website called www.worldwidebrands.com .  You can either register yourself as a supplier and/or you can request to have access to all manufacturers and other participants who provide drop ship programs.  Got questions or would you like to become part of our drop ship program?  Welcome!  And Good Luck!

CargoCatch Truck Bed Cargo Holder for Full Size Trucks

Thursday, July 15th, 2010

The CargoCatch by Graham Solutions is the most innovative pickup truck cargo holder in the automotive aftermarket and is on its way back to you after experiencing poor marketing by Pilot Automotive, the company who originally licensed the patent.

You’ll see trucks driving down the freeway, or parked on the side of the road, with a complete mess in the bed of their truck, typically ropes or bungee cords all tangled up. You take a second look, and say to yourself “What a mess”. Not only did we experience this ourselves with our Toyota Tundra, we decided to do something about it. Some other companies sell cheap similar designs that just don’t hold up under pressure. They use 3M tape or you can drill holes in your truck. There had to be a better solution.

So, one day while watching a San Diego Padres game in his apartment in San Diego, Bill Graham started sketching a design that would ultimately become a reality. He started off at good old Home Depot, purchased some grommets and a couple of adjustable shower rods and off he went back home. He noticed the top rails of the truck bed were rarely used for anything and ended up designing a new sort of technology using UHMWPE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) tooled properly in conjunction with a heavy duty carriage bolt and a fat wingnut and hard rubber end piece that grabs the side rail under pressure.

Several months later, after about 20 prototypes, Bill worked with Wayne Lundberg of the SBDITC (Small Business Development & International Trade Center), a retired engineer who loved to tweak stuff in his shop and the two of them came up with the “Leveling Screw Jack”, now used with the CargoCatch to stabilize the rods on the truck’s rail on either side.

CargoCatch is now under new license with a smaller niche company out of Libertyville, IL named Load Handler who also specializes in cargo management for pickup trucks. Load Handler and Graham are currently working with Chinese engineers to change the design slightly and late summer the unit will be available for full size pick up trucks only with bed widths of 62″ or greater.

If you’d like more information on the CargoCatch, or have questions regarding your truck, please contact us. We’re also taking backorders at this time. The CargoCatch can be popped in and out of the truck within 10 seconds.

Graham Solutions & Product Licensing in Automotive Aftermarket

Saturday, June 12th, 2010

Dear Licensing Partner & Inventor:

I received your letter(s) regarding your services and ‘automotive products’.

We receive these product suggestions and others on a regular basis and we try to communicate our thoughts when possible given that our company is a product development company, in various ways.

In short:

1.  We only work with inventors/product developers who are interested in selling their products immediately after production via our company or other, and auto industry, especially via internet and other major distribution channels.  In cases where inventors/product developers are already working with who would be in any subsequent licensing agreement a “3rd party”, we do not approach these inventors at all specifically because of that relationship which causes issues in the licensing agreements.  We have found throughout years of research as product developers ourselves, that in more cases than not, the individual inventors benefit more via selling the products themselves before going to licensing.

2.  We do work with inventors who work with us directly, without a 3rd party.  This way they hire us for serious automotive product licensing consulting direct from a company already working deeply in the auto aftermarket and selling products in that industry and others.

3.  Since we do have interest in ‘automotive products’, we would however be more than willing to market the product on our website www.cargocatch.com and thousands of others immediately through drop-ship network we have, if you have the product in a box, and you’re drop shipping individual pieces from your warehouse.  After you’ve got the product in a box, contact us for drop shipping it via internet.  As your first dealer or not we will not require you to sign any contract or pay any fee, we make money off selling your product already in a box and if you need marketing or other consulting, including licensing, we have all the contacts in the industry related to cargo management who are looking at new products because we are selling other products of theirs and licensing directly to them some of our products.

We look forward to hopefully selling ’automotive products’ in the future.  Please contact us at your convenience and good luck!

Custom Cargo Nets

Friday, June 11th, 2010

Custom cargo nets are becoming more and more popular with all industries including military, government, aviation, marine, beverage & food, transportation, trucking and especially pickup trucks.  The laws are a changin’ and becoming more and more stringent when it comes to saving people’s lives and their cargo.

We design and manufacture, right here in the USA, cargo nets of all sizes, colors and strengths.  Don’t be shy to tell us exactly what you need for your cargo restraint needs, for whatever application.  We’ve done it all and we can do it all.  We’ve only posted a few of the nets on our site that we make.  We’ll be posting a ton more as time allows over the next several months and will post every net we make, so you can have the bigger selection and ideas to choose from.

Typically, we use 2″ heavy duty webbing that has a breaking strength of 6K lbs and a working load limit of 3K lbs, but we can go a lot higher.  As far as hardware is concerned, we can use whatever you want, wherever you want.  Your straps don’t necessarily have to be attached to the corners or the sides, they can be coming from inside of the net, so keep that in mind.

We offer free engineering drawings for all nets and will always send you a drawing via email prior to constructing your custom cargo net.  And if you don’t like the drawing or would like to make changes, we can edit it for you quickly and send you a final draft until you are satisfied.  We don’t even need a drawing from you to get it rollin’.  All we need for you to do is speak with one of our engineers, and he or she will walk you through the process and design the net for you.  It’s really  that simple.  You tell us what you need it for and how you’d like it, and we’ll take care of the rest.

We offer 1″, 1.5″ and 2″ heavy duty web strapping and a candy store full of hardware to choose from.  Colors include Black, Blue, Red, Green, Yellow and Orange
